SpaceX plans to put chip fabrication, memory production and advanced packaging inside a single Grimes County building. The state's announcement describes a semiconductor plant intended to produce AI chips at scale.
The state describes a first-phase investment exceeding $16.8 billion and a $30 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant. It also gives the plant qualified status under its JETI tax incentive program. The Iola school board voted to enter an agreement with TeraFab AI.
An announcement is not the agreement
The Iola superintendent said the board judged the incentives to be in the district's interest. Anderson-Shiro's superintendent also described a district agreement. Those statements establish the officials' positions, not the complete terms a reader could inspect.
On this edition's reporting date, the Comptroller's public JETI register named neither the company nor either school district. That gap limits verification of the agreements. It doesn't establish that the announced agreements don't exist.
Power and water need their own evidence
Local reporting attributed the site's selection to water storage and described plans for its own gas generation. Those are reported project claims. They aren't measurements of the plant's eventual water consumption or electricity demand.
Separately, the governor ordered an audit before further data center approvals. ERCOT's queue describes proposed large electricity users, not operating demand. Neither record alone establishes this semiconductor plant's connection status.
The record to follow
The next useful evidence is the agreement itself and the documents establishing the site's water and power arrangements. The public register remains the place to check the incentive terms against the announcements.
