What changes the reading

  • The state spells the facility Barslow. The town is Barstow, and the address Ionic gives sits there. Published as the state published it, because a reader comparing this against the Comptroller's own list should find the same string.[1][2]
  • Microsoft is the customer behind the hardware going into this building and is not named on this row. It is not absent from the registry, though. Microsoft holds certifications of its own across San Antonio and Red Oak, so its absence here is not avoidance. At this site it is the occupant's customer rather than the occupant, and the certified occupant is a single purpose Nscale borrowing entity.[1][3]March 16th, 2026
  • Two certifications carry this facility name, an earlier one naming the mining occupant and a later one naming Nscale's borrowing entity. Both read as live. A registry row names who holds an exemption now rather than who held it when it was granted. So the pair is two live exemptions rather than a dated handover, and what the site became is established by the lease.[1][2]March 16th, 2026

Still not public

  • Square footage and acreage are not public.
  • Cooling design is not public.
  • The split between the mining build and the AI retrofit is not public.
  • Whether the expansion ambition has any executed contract behind it is not established.

The registry entry for this facility comes from the Texas Comptroller's certified list of data centers holding a sales tax exemption. Owner, occupant and operator are roles in that filing rather than descriptions of who runs the building.
